The recently concluded retreat of the Ministry of Lectors with the theme Commitment as Gift to Myself, to the Community and to the Church was indeed a success. The retreat took place at the Assumption Retreat House in Antipolo last May 7-8, 2010. The said retreat is part of the ministry’s spiritual formation for lectors.
Retreat is a time to review past mistakes and make corrections. It is a time to pause, to take note of, to appraise and to reconsider experiences may they be good or bad. It is an opportunity to be away from the daily activities and troubles of life and listen to pray, meditate and listen to God’s voice.
The ministry is very priviledged to have Fr. Nilo A. Lardizabal, OP as the retreat master. We owe that to our fellow MOL, Sis. Virgie Vergara who is Fr. Nilo’s aunt. Fr. Nilo is a Dominican religious priest assigned in Bahay Dominiko in Quezon City and currently the provincial secretary of the Dominican province of the Philippines. He effectively enlivened the crowd with his energetic and inspiring in-depth discussion of the topic given about “Commitment”. The talks were followed by examination of conscience and the sacrament of confession.
The highlight of the retreat was the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass officiated by Holy Family’s parish priest, Rev. Fr. Lawrence Paz.
Certainly, the members of the Ministry of Lectors took this rare opportunity to replenish their energy at the same time to feed and nourish their soul.
